TnT Art Lab, a project of Conjunction Arts, believes artists are essential to a thriving and just democracy. Rooted in San Francisco's Tenderloin, TnT positions socially engaged art as a catalyst for civic dialogue, cultural vitality, and social transformation. Through residencies, exhibitions, and public programs, we foster collaboration, amplify underrepresented voices, and invite diverse communities to imagine—and act toward—a more equitable future. At TnT, art meets urgency: where practice becomes participation, and imagination drives change.
We envision a San Francisco where art is actively engaged in the work of social transformation. Through our programs and partnerships, we create spaces where diverse communities come together to explore, create, and imagine new possibilities for our neighborhoods and our cities.
At Turk and Taylor, in the heart of the Tenderloin, TnT Art Lab is both a studio and a gathering place. With space for art-making, exhibitions, public programs, and a growing library on art and activism, it fosters collaboration and community. It's not just a space—it's a lab where creativity meets action, and imagination sparks collective change.

ARTISTS: We champion artists as civic actors—creative thinkers who challenge systems, spark dialogue, and drive change.
COLLABORATION: We build with others. Artists, neighbors, organizers, and institutions come together to imagine and act collectively.
EXPERIMENTATION: We embrace risk. Our space invites bold ideas, tests new approaches, and makes space for creative disruption.
ENGAGEMENT: We listen first. Every initiative is shaped in community and grounded in local realities.
INCLUSIVITY: We prioritize equity. Diversity, access, and representation are built into everything we do—from programming to partnerships.
SUSTAINABILITY: We commit for the long haul. Through lasting relationships and honest evaluation, we work toward impact that endures.
TnT Art Lab is guided by a dynamic advisory team that blends global perspective with deep local knowledge. Our members include artists, cultural organizers, educators, and civic leaders—many of whom live and work in San Francisco and have long-standing ties to the Tenderloin. Together, they help shape our programs, challenge our thinking, and ensure that our work remains artist-driven, community-responsive, and rooted in the realities of the city. Their insights keep us accountable to both artistic excellence and social impact.

TnT Art Lab is a project of Conjunction Arts, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization with a 35-year history of supporting socially engaged art.
Founded in Richmond, VA, as Collaborative Urban Sculpture, Inc., in 1989, by Bradley McCallum, the organization rebranded as Conjunction Arts in 1998 upon relocating to Brooklyn, NY. In 2024, Conjunction Arts moved to San Francisco—marking a bold new chapter with the launch of TnT Art Lab.
Bradley McCallum envisions TnT Art Lab as a complement to the vital work of museums, galleries, and nonprofit arts organizations across the Bay Area. TnT Lab offers a dedicated space for Social Practice Art—where artists can develop projects that respond directly to the city's social, cultural, and civic landscape.
TnT invites partnerships with museums and galleries to host artists-in-residence, providing studio space and support for socially engaged work. It also serves as a resource for local social justice organizations—fostering partnerships that explore how artists can contribute to advocacy, community building, and systems change.
